Prime AutoBase manages the insurance repair process from first contact to final inspection, so your BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi or Volvo is returned to the standard it deserves.

How it works

The repair process

  1. Contact us first

    Call or email us before you accept an insurer's default repairer. We'll guide you through nominating Prime AutoBase as your preferred repairer - it's your right.

  2. Assessment & quote

    Our experienced technicians carry out a thorough mechanical and structural assessment using dealer-level diagnostics. We document everything and prepare a single detailed estimate.

  3. We liaise with your insurer

    We communicate directly with your insurer on your behalf - managing approvals, answering technical queries, and keeping the repair on track without you chasing paperwork.

  4. Repair with genuine parts

    Your vehicle is repaired using genuine or OE-specification parts. Where bodywork or paint is required, we coordinate with our trusted specialist partners to ensure consistent quality.

  5. Final inspection & return

    We carry out a full quality check before handover. Where structural repairs are involved, we arrange a post-repair Warrant of Fitness so you drive away with confidence.

Know your rights

You can choose your own repairer

You can nominate any licensed repairer - your insurer cannot legally require you to use their preferred workshop. This right is well established in New Zealand.

Restored to pre-incident condition

Your insurer is obliged to restore your vehicle to its pre-incident condition. You are entitled to genuine or OE-equivalent parts where appropriate to your vehicle's make and age.

Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 protection

Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, repair work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. If it falls short, you have recourse - independent of what your insurer says.

No need for multiple quotes

You are not required to obtain multiple quotes. One accurate, detailed estimate from your chosen repairer is sufficient for most major NZ insurers.
